Guide

How to turn a long stream into a highlight video you’ll want to share: from adding your first video to posting the finished clip, as well as some tips and tricks.

Getting started

  1. Sign up with your name and email. We’ll email you a link to finish; no password needed.
  2. You start on the Free plan. See Pricing for what each plan includes.
  3. Open Create Your Video from the menu. That’s where everything below happens.

You can log in again any time with an emailed link, or set a password from the log-in page if you prefer.

Adding a video

There are two ways in:

  • Paste a link to a YouTube video, a Twitch VOD or a Kick VOD.
  • Upload a recording from your PC, or one you’ve copied off your console. It can be up to 12 hours long. You can also drop the file anywhere on the page.

Uploads of big recordings take a while. Keep the tab open until it finishes. If it stops, choose the same file again and it carries on where it left off.

Clip padding sets how many seconds to keep before each fight and after each elimination. You can change it any time, even after your clips are found: they update straight away and keep their order. A clip you’ve trimmed by hand keeps your edges.

While your video is prepared

AimClips works through a few steps, and shows each one as it goes:

  1. Downloading the full video (or importing your upload)
  2. Finding the eliminations
  3. Categorizing each weapon and loadout

A long stream takes a few minutes. You don’t have to watch: you can leave the page and come back, and your browser can notify you when it’s done.

Picking your clips

When it’s ready you’ll see every clip AimClips found, on a timeline of the whole video and as a list.

In a hurry? Pick a length (30 seconds to 3 minutes, or your own) and press Autoselect Clips & Features. AimClips chooses your best clips (wins, multi-kills, clutch and unscathed fights first), puts them in a good order, and sets the effects, music, crowd sound and outro, then takes you to Create final video. Change anything you like first, or press it again for a different mix. Undo puts back what you had.

  • Badges point out the best moments: 👑 Victory Royale, 🩸 Clutch (an elimination on low health), 🛡️ Unscathed (a fight won without taking damage), and kill streaks like DOUBLE KILL and TRIPLE KILL.
  • Tick the clips you want in your video. Select all and Select none help with long lists.
  • Drag clips to change their order, or use Reset order.
  • Trim a clip by dragging its start or end. Reset to detected puts it back.
  • Add text clip inserts a coloured card with your own words, like a title or “Sunday Squad Wins”.

Effects, music and outros

Make it yours before you build:

  • Full screen effects: a white pop that turns black-and-white, or an RGB-split glitch.
  • Text overlays: DOUBLE KILL! and TRIPLE KILL! titles (optionally with flames), CLUTCH! on a low-health elimination, and UNSCATHED! on a fight without damage.
  • Background music, crowd sounds and an outro: upload your own. Music can be mp3, m4a, aac, wav or ogg; outros mp4, mov or webm.

Use ▶ Preview to see an effect before you choose it.

Building your video

  1. Pick a format: Vertical (9:16) for TikTok, Shorts and Reels, or Horizontal (16:9) for YouTube.
  2. Click Create final video. The summary shows how many clips and how long the video will be.
  3. Choose a thumbnail: pick a moment and add a caption like VICTORY ROYALE, or type your own.

Remember that each build counts towards your plan’s monthly clip minutes.

Making Shorts

Switch the Final video card to the Shorts tab to turn your best moments into separate vertical Shorts instead of one highlight video.

  1. Tick clips in Clips, or press Pick my best Shorts and choose how many (3, 5, 8 or 12).
  2. Each Short is about 30 seconds: its clip plus the fight before it and your reaction after. Change it under Every Short → Change → Short length (clip only, or about 20, 30 or 45 seconds).
  3. Each Short gets a suggested hook (the line of text on the video) and title. Press ↻ for another suggestion, or type your own. Show hook puts it on the whole Short, the first 3 seconds, or not at all.
  4. Add a description and hashtags. “Every description ends with” starts with your channel link.
  5. Shorts that aren’t made yet, or that you changed, are ticked: press Make N Shorts. Untick any you want to leave out, or tick a made one to make it again.

Download each Short, or Download all (zip) for every Short with its cover and a titles.txt of the titles and descriptions. Use the copy icons to paste a title, description or hashtags straight into YouTube or TikTok. Shorts count towards your monthly clip minutes by their length.

Sharing

  • Download the finished video and post it wherever you like: TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or YouTube.
  • Download clips (.zip) gives you each clip as its own file at full quality (no effects, music or crop) if you’d rather edit them yourself.

Your plan and usage

Your plan sets:

  • Hours of footage you can process each month
  • Minutes of clips you can generate each month
  • How long your videos are kept before they’re deleted
  • Whether the AimClips watermark is added

My account shows how much you’ve used this month; both reset on the 1st. Compare plans on the Pricing page.

Tips for the best results

  • Shorter is better for social: pick your strongest 4–8 clips rather than everything.
  • Lead with your best moment. Viewers decide in the first few seconds.
  • Vertical works best for TikTok, Shorts and Reels.
  • Use the badges to find your standout plays fast.
  • Stuck? Check the FAQ or contact us.

Some ideas

  • I like to select the “Crowd Eruption” audio, and the app will make the crowd cheer more loudly each time you get an elimination.
  • If you’re like me and play on console (Xbox in my case), the easiest way to get videos in is to stream your gameplay to Twitch and then provide the Twitch video link. You can also upload the video if you save it on a thumb drive. To do that, just plug a thumb drive into your Xbox and record to it.
  • If you use overlays, try to keep the loadouts, health, HUD and kill feed visible. The app still works if you block them, but depending on what you block, it might have a harder time finding key moments or analyzing your gameplay.
